Student gift! [13th May 2009|12:19 am]
One of my students has found a hair & beauty warehouse nearby, and has bought out their stock of fake eyelashes, at least all the ones with rhinestones at the base/lashline, and some with rhinestones at the tips of the lashes (yum!).

And she gave me these, which are very much appreciated, particularly as I have no shame at all in looking like a drag queen when in performance mode.

pwetty shiny rainbow lashes!

The Front Row Mafia [13th May 2009|12:36 pm]
I am holding my hands up. I am one of the Front Row Mafia, as Kharis so charmingly puts it. I like to start the workshop at the front. Always have. Comes of being blind as a bat. Come to that, I always prefer to have the teacher on my left, because I'm left eye dominant.

Having said that, I am always happy to rotate rows, so long as the less experienced workshop attendees who were in the rows behind me actually do move Cut for swearyness, just in case, this is an open post after all! ) forward. At least when I'm in the front row I am *properly* at the front and not forcing the rows behind me to squish up. It annoys the hell out of me, when you have to move to the back and the rest of the rows stay more or less in place, wasting the front half of the room. Use the space, people! I love Aziza's system of giving everyone a row number and making them stick to it and rotate effectively.

I am also happy to stay at the back and find a little space of my own to work in without bothering anyone. I'll quite often do this, particularly when I want to be making lots of notes as I'm going along.

I am even happy to sit down and just take notes. If the workshop is too crowded for me, or if it's the last workshop of a dance weekend and I've used up all my energy reserves, I can still learn a lot, and obviously it's a lot easier to take notes when you aren't trying to dance it all at the same time.

So although I prefer to remain at the front, I'm not precious about it.
