Hafla on the Hill

It's a super event! I just wish it was a bit more accessible for me by public transport, as I'd love to support it more regularly. The new venue is great, enough space, but still feels intimate & friendly. I had a great time!

I did Akteb Aleik, on which I got a lot of kind feedback. The barman asked if I was Egyptian- bless! It's such a fabulous song to dance to, I don't feel like I can go wrong with it!

And I did Habibi we Aneya, as a fairly chilled taqsim style baladi. I was on straight after someone doing Shik Shak Shok, I didn't see her, but it sounded high energy, so mine would have been a complete change of atmosphere! I wasn't able to stay later than that, because of having to catch the train home (two hour journey, deep joy), and in fact I'd had to ask Rosy to shift me forward to be sure that I could get away in time. So I'm afraid I did the dance'n'run thing, which seems so rude.
