In the end, I decided the ruffles just didn't quite work, not for this particular costume. So I'm back to a bead edging, as originally planned.

I'm taking on board the comments about the greens not quite matching. While I do agree that they are not an exact Matchy-Match (and I don't think I could even find an exact Matchy-Match), I consider that the three greens do all work together, especially for Costuming Purposes, if not necessarily for Real Life purposes. So for now, I will be proceeding on the basis that the hip and head scarves will be in the lime green.

However, I've ordered a metre of plain white lycra, so that I can make a pair of scarves out of that, which could either be instead of the lime, or as well as the lime. I always like building versatility into my costumes!

So here's the edge-beading. A little bit green, a little bit white:

The edge beading

The ruffles are on the back-burner, but it's Au Revoir, not Adieu!

Beading
I think the beading looks nice and the not-matchy-matchy adds interest.

Seeing the rufles and then the beading I'm glad you switched to the beading. I like the look of it a lot better!

Oh yeah, this is definitely much better than the ruffles.

I'm just here to add yet another voice of approval. I was unsure about the ruffles, but the beading here draws a big YES from me.

Yup, the colours are right - the beading doesn't 'fight' with the rest the way the ruffles did.
