Work on the next term's choreography is progressing nicely. I'm really hoping to beat all odds and have an actual completed routine ready for the start of the term, rather than my usual 1/3 of a choreography and lots of inchoate ideas of how I want the unchoreographed bits to go. Although, even once I've got the finished version, it sometimes changes, depending on how the bodies that I've got doing it actually work.

The likelihood of completion of the choreo is helped by the fact that I'm trying to keep it simple. Essentially it should work out so that it could be danced solo, if the student so wished, but there will be group formations for the students to present on a stage, so that it's not *too* dull.

I think I've got some cute bits in from the get-go. It's El Hantour, so there needs to be plenty of fun and sass in it. I just hope that the sense of fun will come through, and I can get them dancing it like dalla Egyptian girls, rather than Nice English Ladies!

ETA- I've found, this summer, that I can get FAR more work done when I'm not at home. If I can take my notebook to a bar or fast-food joint, and sit quietly nursing a drink for an hour or two, I can get a load of stuff done!

I envy you!! I'm lucky to be a step ahead of my students in choreography this year. I keep reminding myself only 3 whole and two partial ones to go...LOL

I *don't* envy you FIVE choreos to make up *and* learn! My brain couldn't cope with that!

It's recital season...LOL. Total choreos for the show I have to create and teach is 9 this year, plus whatever the hell I decide to do for my instructor solo. Luckily I only have the instructor piece and the three troupe pieces to perform. My students are on their own...lol.
Luckily for me all my dance training from about 5 years on was choreography based so I have a head for remembering them, so long as I practice on a regular basis :P

I would love to have you as a teacher if I weren't an ocean away.

Heehee! That's the trouble with online friendships- you don't get to spend real time with people!

I do try to be a good teacher. I've always been very lucky to have students who are nice friendly people, so they are an encouragement and I try to do my best for them.
