A Hair Flower Tutorial

This is a first- I've never done a tutorial before.

I bought myself a hot glue gun, and I was desperate to do things with it. I've made two gigantic rose hair clips, but I am a bit worried that the clips just aren't big enough for the roses. So that's not what the tutorial is going to be all about.

But I have also done a rather nifty orchid hair clip, which I think has worked out very well, and here is how I did it. Be warned, it's photo intensive!

First off, this is what I used:
The makings...
I had a spray of orchids, some dark green felt (I suppose I could just as easily have gone for pink felt), an alligator hair clip, and my brand new hot glue gun. The only other thing I used, which is not shown, is a pair of scissors.
If you haven't got a glue gun, then a tube of UHU or similar glue would work just as well.

The first thing I did was take a couple of the orchid flowers from the spray.

And then trim the stem right down.

Next I cut a rectangle of felt, just a little bigger than the base of the hair clip.
Adding the felt base

And I glued the felt to the hair clip.

Then it was a case of adding the orchids. I glued on the first one.

I *think* I got it the right way up, but I doubt it will matter enormously, once it goes onto my head!

I built up the blob of glue around the stub of the stem, so that it wouldn't come accidentally adrift.

I added the second orchid. I decided that I wanted the orchids to mirror each other. Again, not that it will matter much in the wearing.

And - TADAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! - here's the finished article.
Ta-daaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!
