Teaching

I finished the choreography to Raqset Kahramana with the Intermediate students last night. I was hoping that they'd like the ending, which is a bit cheeserrific, and thankfully they did! I'm glad, because *I* like it! We also started on some Sha'abi improv, which I think they're going to enjoy.

I think the Beginners are getting into the Scheherazade choreography too. There's enough of it that's feeling familiar to them, that they can remember, which is good.

I had some time before classes started, so I managed to get some videoing done, of the ending of Kahramana, and some combinations for the Beginners. I also got to do some noodling for my own pleasure. I picked the Baladi Blues 3 cd, because I'd already decided that it was very danceable, and I do love a bit of Baladi. I danced to Ana Hena, which has quite a Spanishy feel, and Mawoud. I enjoyed both, and I was videoing. I haven't looked at myself yet, I'll leave that for a day or two, and get a bit of distance! I find it's much easier watching myself on video when I'm not still engrossed in what I was dancing to. I need that time separation, in order to watch myself more objectively.
