A full day. Oh yeah! Full of good stuff

Fun times have started!!!

The fun times really started when diva_c arrived, and we started to catch up, and of course, set the world to rights. We managed to get to sleep around 5.30am. Which is fine unless you've got to get up at 9.30!

First, the view from our balcony:
Looking Northwards:
Balcony view, looking north
And Eastwards:
Balcony view, looking east

Genuine Nile View from the hotel balcony!
And finally, ladies and gentlemen, I give you a gin-you-wine Nile View.

The down and dirty highlights of today:
- trying (but failing) to encourage our room cleaner to perform some Towel Art). My own effort, that I'm inordinately proud of, on account of it not falling over is this:
MY towel art
Surely anyone would consider this is a worthy encouragement? But apparently not...
- an Arabic lesson (exchanging pleasantries, shopping and how to deal with taxis). I'm still rubbish with numbers after 8...
- finding out all the various plans for the week ahead (serious squee! We've got options to see all sorts of nightclub dancing! Including Randa, although she was a given, as E_S is her number one fan, but also Aziza, and Lucy- squeeeeeeee!!!!)
- Orientation walk around the neighbourhood with Kay, I'd done some of this already, but it doesn't do any harm to do more.
- Kushari lunch. I love kushari, it's healthy and tasty and filling, and what more could you ask for in a lunch?
- out to Hannan's studio, I bought a two piece in white and tealy turquoise, veh pretty! And a lace practice/teaching outfit! And a sparkly white Fifi style galabeya. The latter is the only thing I could take home with me because the rest is being made up to my size. Gah, I hate waiting! But a galabeya photo will occur and be posted, when both Miss C and myself are less sleepy.
- then out to Giza to visit Eman Zaki's atelier, and ordering my flag dress in blue white & red. It's being made/designed specially, and it's a thank you and memorial to my mother.
- I have paid for everything, and still have enough money to go to Aziz tomorrow and order a costume from him, and go to see ALL THE SHOWS! And buy some new hip scarfs and music and dvds and stuff! Squee!!!
- Dinner out at Bram, which is a lovely restaurant, kind of modern but with traditional Egyptian cuisine. And the best thing of all is that they have a qanun and riq player playing, while you eat. Doing all the lovely Egyptian classics. They played some requests, mostly mine and Miss C's- Lola al Malama, and Lissa Fakr were mine.
Musicians at Bram restaurant
- the musicians' faces when we sangalonga to Akteb Aleik! They seriously weren't expecting that. It has to be said, we (that's Miss C and Evil Spice and me) sing with more gusto than pronunciation perfection. "Raucous" is perhaps too strong a word for the enthusiasm with which we performed this number. But suffice it to say, when we requested Lissa Fakr, the musicians made sure we weren't going to sing it before they agreed to play it!

Tomorrow it's a trip out to the Pyramids for everyone except us old lags who've seen them before and would rather spend the time visiting Aziz and asking him to make crazy costumes for us. And then it's going to be Shows times two!!! Luna on the Andrea boat (I think) and then Aziza at the Sunset club. I'm soooooooooooo excited!!!
