Costume idea

I did have an idea while I was at the Khan al Khalili with diva_c, having a complete haggle fail at Isis, when I saw one of their confetti-style bedlahs. They made me think of sweeties. And that led me to think...

What if I was to bead a costume with actual sweets: dolly mixtures, jelly tots, midget gems, glacier mints, quality street toffee pennies and the like? How long would they last, before I'd have to do it all over again?

I reckon that so long as they didn't get damp , i.e. I didn't place them where the actual sweet would be in contact with my body, and get sweaty, and I aired the costume properly after use, the sugar would keep everything preserved pretty well. It could definitely last several performances.

There are a lot of crafters who make jewelry that looks like candy and sweets, and they wouldn't require extra care taking like real candy would.

It's a fab idea!

But the beauty of this one is that it would be *real* sweets! I could pull them off and eat them! Or throw them out to the audience (obv only the wrapped ones!)

how about a combination? Real sweets that are replacable, and fake ones so you won't have to remake the costume every time.

I love the idea of being able to eat the candy from your dress andthrow some in the audience.

I think I would be tempted to make fake sweets out of fimo. All organic things degrade and it would leave a sticky mess on the fabric.
