I did a mentoring visit this evening. I felt like the person I was visiting was seriously defensive, and wasn't interested in anything I had to say at all.

I know it's a pain in the arse, but if you work for Adult Learning, you *have* to deal with the whole "paperwork" issue. There is no way of avoiding it. That's not just your own paperwork, although yes, you do have to have workable, functioning course documentation. No, it also means making sure your students understand why *they* should complete *their* paperwork. Because there are a whole load of really good reasons why they should. Not least the fact that they're getting classes at half the true commercial cost.

I was there to help, to give ideas about how you can get these things that you think of as an imposition, a burden, a pain, to be a useful tool for you, to make your life easier, to make you a better teacher. But you took against me before you even walked through the door, and were determined to ignore anything I had to say.

*sigh*

It's a good job I get paid for this stuff.
