The Job- I've started- hooray!

I've had my first day, although I did have a meeting last week which was slightly in advance of my official start date.

I think I'm really going to enjoy this! It's a bit bewildering right now, because I've got a load of new passwords to learn for the different computer programmes I'm supposed to be using, I don't have a phone (hey I'm pretty grateful for that!) and I've got a load of new names to remember, but it's going to be good.

Already I've got a "challenging" tutor- well to be fair, she's not a problem, she's just new and doesn't really understand our documentation yet, but I feel I will have to do a bit of hand-holding. There's nothing wrong with that, and as a colleague commented, at least if I do all the hand-holding now, I've got a chance of moulding her into the kind of tutor we want. She's not like the old-guard tutors who've been here for years and refuse to change their way of doing things.

Also, I may have accidentally got myself appointed as a French language tutor! I share an office with the language Assistant Curriculum Managers, and I mentioned that my mother was French. She immediately seized upon this fact and had me down to teach a couple of classes that are currently tutorless. I've told her to treat me as a reserve, but to keep looking!

And now, I need to get my own course documentation done...
