| Backup Fail |
[9th January 2009|03:01 am] |
I have tried a couple of programmes to back up my lj, just in case. I haven't liked any of them, nor have I found any which allow me to do what I want. I admit I am a duffer.
I have consequently decided, stuff it, my faithful LJBook pdfs will have to remain the sole repository of my friends' wit & wisdom, if LJ gets broken.
I was able to use LJBook without any problems tonight, so maybe it's all blowing over now.
And I really should try & reestablish some more normal sleep patterns. |

| Shouldn't LJ be down now? |
[18th November 2008|04:04 pm] |
Four whole hours...
Good job I'm teaching tonight, I might miss the downtime. |

| Tribe out of action? |
[16th June 2008|02:30 pm] |
It seems to have been down all morning.
ETA- down all day.
S'funny... Tribe goes down and I get all "Cuh, bloody useless Tribe" about it. Bhuz goes down and I get a bit "Oh where oh where is Bhuz?". But LJ goes down and I am truly bereft!
ETA #2 Blimey O'Reilly! Holy Moly's fallen over too... Own up now- who broke the Internet?
ETA- 19.6.08 Down again this morning... By 4, it's up, but playing up- it's lost a message I sent and one I received, from yesterday. And there are weird dummy blogposts in my friends list. |

| Time for a new icon |
[6th June 2008|01:45 am] |
This was another from the same set that Tracey did a year or two back. It was supposed to be Hollywood Harem Fantasy! It does rather show the girls off, but I've never had any problem with that. I always know exactly how much is showing and how risky it may or may not be... |

| Pretty little gold padlocks |
[29th February 2008|10:09 am] |
I'm liking the new icon that shows that a post is filtered. I'm also liking that I can see what filters I was using.
I'm particularly liking that other people can't! |

| Anyone for a Rant? |
[26th January 2008|12:20 am] |
I was just revisiting my custom groups/filters. If you can see my last post: Taking one's responsibilities seriously, then you're already on my ranting list. If you can't see it, and you would like to, and you accept the risk that there may be swearing in such posts, and you understand that there is absolutely no point in trying to reason with me like a sensible mature adult in those threads, then let me know... |

| Paid account users? |
[7th September 2007|08:13 pm] |
I've been a cheapskate till now. But I'm currently thinking about paying real money for this. All you Paid Account Users, wanna tell me how great it is? |

| Wordcloud |
[9th February 2007|02:51 pm] |
I have a wordcloud from my website!

Isn't that fab? I want it on a t-shirt now - http://www.snapshirts.com do it.
I have to confess I wanted it for my LJ, but it didn't seem to read the *whole* of my LJ and the words didn't seem right, so I went for my own site. |

| LJ book playing silly buggers again |
[8th February 2007|07:07 pm] |
It seems to have lost 2007 as an option. It was there earlier this year, because I saved my LJ on 25th January 2007, but it's gone. |

Happy birthday to my LJ- one year old today. |

| Why do I blog? |
[18th June 2006|10:32 pm] |
I read other people's posts and I wonder sometimes what motivates them to post... So I asked the question of myself.
I decided from the outset that this would be a blog purely for dance matters. This is a record of my involvement in Dance. Principally the Oriental dance, but encompassing my love of the terpsichorean art more generally. It's a way of keeping track of what I've done and what I’d like to do, of what I see and how it affects me, of working out what I feel about aspects of dance, and teaching, about other dancers & teachers, about the "scene".
But all of that I could do in a paper diary, or I could just post here & keep everything locked as private. So there's clearly an element of wanting others to read what I write here. When I first started this LJ I didn't expect much interaction, and it felt like talking out loud in a nearly empty space. Now I'm talking with a group of friends, specific people, not just the GP. I think that affects how I post - I ask questions, I raise matters that I feel certain people might respond to. I hate to say it, but this LJ is (and I hate to use such a ghastly word- sorry!) interactive.
Which is a bit weird, because I’d generally have said I prefer to keep my opinions to myself, especially the controversial ones. I don’t publicise this journal, or if I do, it’s only on a very personal level. There’s an invisible link to it from my website, but frankly I doubt anyone’s actually found it. I don’t like confrontation and arguments. I hate flame wars. So I think I must be a closet exhibitionist, if that’s not a contradiction in terms.
It’s my LJ birthday coming up. On Friday I think (the 23rd, anyway) this blog will be a whole year old. I would never have thought a) that I could sustain a dance journal this long and b) that I could get this addicted to LJ. |
