The idea was to create a fabric "box", which would open with a zip around 3 of the top edges of the box. I had clearly not thought this through at all, because a) it requires using a zip and I was never any good with zips in the first place, b) I haven't got a zipper foot for my sewing machine, and c) it requires getting the zip to turn around two corners, and I refer my honourable friends once again to the assertion I made in a). However, I've got the bloody zips now, so I realised I'd better just buckle down and try it, at least.
I'm still hampered by having stretchy material from the stash to use up (that's another lesson I've learned). My zip is completely rubbish and doesn't bear anything more than a passing glance. Having said all of that, I do still like it. The concept was a good one. The concept can't help it if my execution was poor. And I have learned from the experience, and the next one will be better.
