A Plan of Sorts

I decided I like being creative. So I'm going to Make Something Every Month.

The rule is going to be that it only counts once I've finished it. So if I start a new costume in January and it doesn't get finished till May, then that will be the May thing. If I feel a bit faily by the 27th or so of a month, I can always make another Costume Bag- they're nice & quick & easy!

I'm wondering what sort of other things I can make that are dance-related, and useful (I have far more useless tat than I should, so I need to ensure anything I make is actually useful). Any suggestions gratefully received. Although I should warn you, they may never be acted upon, if they are beyond my meagre skills or my personal sense of style.

This is not a Resolution in any way, shape or form. If I don't meet it, then pfft, so what? But it's always good to have a Plan.

And now, I am going to get the suitcase with the fabric stash in it down from the top of the wardrobe, and get the hyacinth lycra and magenta lace out. And put away the Fab Crazy Floral for now.

PS, the Poppies Costume Bag doesn't count, because I made it before I made the Plan.

Oooh yes, and also, those little skirt thingies to wear over trousers/leggings.

Nice suggestion there!

I like the idea of the skirt thingies they look mega mega easy to do.

Another vote for skirt thingies. And then I can try to work out What You Did There and make some for myself. ^_^

I like this plan so much I may have to steal it. :)

I like Kina's suggestions, too. Your costume/accessory bags are super-cute and have retail potential as well.

Steal on, my friend!

I'm not really looking to sell stuff particularly. I'm selfish and I'd rather make stuff for myself!

Are you looking for only sewing? Leg warmers are surprisingly useful for belly dancers as well.

zill mufflers
Tie tops

If you could design a scrunchy top (like those Suhaila scrunchy pants) where you can raise and lower the bottom part, it would be super cool.

I do like the idea of tie-tops, but I've never actually owned one, to see just how it's made. That's definitely one for the list.

Leg warmers are also on the list of things I might be able to make. Zill mufflers I have little to no personal use for, so I probably wouldn't bother.

I can sew, knit, crochet and tat (it's a kind of bobbin lace). I can happily glue stuff together. I can sew beads and sequins to stuff. That's probably about the extent of my craftiness. But it's good enough for the sort of things I want to do.

One thing I do want to make, which is unrelated to dancing, is a cover for my lovely new Kindle. I am <3ing my new toy!

Hair flowers & other hair ornaments are also on the list.

I confess, I was inspired by your 12 projects post, and adapted it a bit to my own devices.

Photos will definitely be posted.
