Observation & Assessment

Today I have been doing the Observation on the JWAAD teacher training course "Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes" (the Foundation Course as was, before it all became certified).

I have done Technique Assessments with the new extra levels. It wasn't as tricky as I worried it might be. I do wonder how much harder it's going to be to do the levelling to make sure everyone's grading the same way. I was assessing with Yvette, and although we were broadly singing from the same hymnsheet, there were elements of difference. The idea for the extra levels was to address the fact that often when we were assessing technique, we'd put the tick more towards one end of the box, to indicate it was closer to the level above or below than merely in-between! But I still found I was using a graduating tick that wasn't always in the centre of the box, even though I had a lot more boxes to choose from!

More Technique assessing tomorrow. And assessing warm ups. Rah!

Monday is a day of rest, apart from nipping out to buy sinus-pressure-relieving medication, because my sinuses have been murder! Then on Tuesday, a Mentoring meeting, in which I shall have to coax a recalcitrant tutor into keeping a tidy course file (all it takes is file dividers and a Contents Sheet- it's hardly rocket science- heck, I'll even give her the file dividers). And then I shall be off to deepest Cornwall to catch up with the Gentleman Friend, who took himself off down there for the half-term break.

He is an Adult Ed Art Tutor. It's ridiculous, we really should have met in the ordinary social way, seeing as we both work for the same Adult Ed organisation! But as it happens, we met online, like almost everybody nowadays!
