The VCD with four dancers who don't seem to be big name dancers was ok, nothing on there that I was particularly taken with, and I only skimmed it.
But the DVD I'd bought was of Asena, and (despite myself!) I found myself falling for her, like a big fally thing! Her technique is a bit rough around the edges (which I kind of like, to be honest!), and of course she suffers from the whole handicap of Not Being Egyptian Enough for me, but I think she's got a nice way of putting her dances together and I just *loved* her attitude!
So I have been & gone & ordered a Didem DVD, in this new spirit of pro-Turkishness!

I knew you could be won over by the right dancer!
Yay! I think that too often, sloppy Westerners use the
phony excuseterm "I dance Turkish style" when what they should be saying is "I'm too lazy to work on my technique", and that's not Turkish at all. Good Turkish style takes strength, especially with all the level changes.
