First body shot!

The bra is now fully constructed. And I've tried it on with the dress to cut the U neckline. I say "neck"line, it turns out it's quite far away from my neck in parts!

The neck straps are done

The bra - first body shot!

The dress neckline is now cut out

I ended up cutting the U a bit deeper than I'd originally planned, because the stretch of the fabric gets shifted once there's a slash in it. But it's ok, I can handle that much flesh being on show. What I might have to do is fix little hooks & eyes to make sure the dress stays in position in relation to the bra, when in motion. But that will be one of the final things to think about, and the decoration may have a bearing on how the fabric moves in practice. So we'll see.

I think the next thing I'm going to tackle is the ruffling.

It's a bit weird seeing this on my body, because I have a pathological fear of pale colours! I always feel like they'll make me look like a beached whale. So I avoid them pretty avidly in real life. But this, despite its white base and pale green print, is still somehow ok on me! Maybe there are just very different rules for Costumes, compared with what you wear in the mundane world.

When the cut tag mentions chest on display, I consider it less of a warning and more of an extra reason to click.

This baladi dress is possibly the cutest thing ever.

Well you know, sometimes people are LJing at work... I did once have someone comment about a chest photo that I put on Facebook once. She wasn't *exactly* complaining, but I took it to heart that sometimes other people are a bit more private about these things than I am!

I'm hoping it stays cute. There's still plenty of time to ruin it!

Technical question - how do you find the dual strap thingie compared to your usual single strap configuration? Comfy? Supportive enough?

It's difficult to assess properly, because it doesn't have hooks yet, but based on me holding it in place for checking, and for the photos, I think it's going to be fine. Comfy and supportive so far. The lower band fits nice & snugly on the ribcage, right under the breasts, which helps enormously with the hoisting!
