Classes starting back

I'm doing one Improvers class in Farnham with my existing students. No Beginners class, so I get to drive in a bit later. Only two of the Beginners from last year have moved up, and one of them was a returning student, and had decided to stick with Beginners while she re-acclimated herself to BD. So really she's just back where she should have been. I've got a new Improver returner, but it's a bit worrying that I haven't got a Beginners' class to feed through next year. I don't know how it will keep going, but since I now have an Improvers class that looks like there will be 13 of them, that's a problem for the future, and I don't have to think about it right now.

On the positive side, I do have a new Beginners class starting in Guildford, next Monday. A couple of weeks ago, it was looking like I wouldn't have either, but the Guildford one has somehow pulled in 10 people, so all I have to do is make them love Bellydance and want to carry on dancing forever. No pressure there, then!

The Improvers class started back up last night, and it reminded me why I teach! I love the enjoyment that my students get from dancing. I love that they're willing to try stuff because they believe me when I tell them they can do it (I particularly love that!). And I love seeing the choreography which is in my head coming to life when there are actual people doing it. Who'd have thought that some totally easy-peasy khaliji would bring me so much happiness? They were happy because we're still doing khaligi, and they recognised Mashkalni. I'm happy because the intro that I was worrying about is looking pretty fine, even on this first scrappy go at it, and I can see it all working out.

I didn't realise how much I've missed teaching over the summer.

And in personal news, hooray! The Gentleman Friend is growing his beard back. I like him with a beard. At the moment he's looking slightly Paul Hollywood, but I don't know what his ultimate beard design aim is.
